The latest in the series of Wilkinsons’ European Tours took place on Valentine’s weekend in Aberdeen.
Tees RC took 2 eights to race in the Aberdeen Head on the river Dee and a great time was had by all.
The men’s crew came up against a Vet G crew from Aberdeen who had been rowing together for years – indeed their cox had spent 6 weeks rowing at Tees (in Chris Kenyon’s crew!) The row was good with no dramas and although Tees were faster on raw time they lost it on handicap.
The women’s crew complete with broken ribs at stroke and a very pregnant 7, rowed valiantly but unfortunately were overturned by 2 younger Aberdeen crews.
The course was about 3k, conditions were benign (not always like this we were told) and the rain even held off until after the race.
