Weekend and Evening courses
Tees runs a Learn to Row course which caters for those new to rowing and we welcome anyone who
wishes to sample the sport.
Sessions take place on a Sunday at 10am between March and October. You need to be able to swim
– just in case the unusual occurs! You do not need to be young, fit or athletic, but remember to tell
us if you have any problems that might affect your rowing.
The course costs £110 for six 2-hour sessions, including one free 1-hour introductory session. If you
miss one session, we will add an extra session onto the end of the course to make up for it.
However, if any more are missed, we are unable to extend the course further as it delays future
courses. Once you have completed the course, you must join the club to continue rowing.
You stay with the beginner’s group until we think you are ready to move on, then we help you
integrate into the next group. The emphasis on these courses is to show you the enjoyment that can
be had from rowing and to teach the basic British Rowing technique.
The £110 course fee also includes the necessary insurance cover whilst taking the course.
If you are interested in joining the Adult Learn to Row course, you can submit your interest to the
L2R coordinator below. Please be aware, once you submit your interest, you will be added to a
waiting list and will only be contacted once a space becomes available on an upcoming course.
IMPORTANT – Please ensure you check your spam/junk folder in the email account you submit on
your form! Once the L2R coordinator contacts you, if you do not respond then your place will be
offered to the next person on the list.
For your first session, please bring a completed Membership Form and the course fee of £110 (in the
form of a cheque payable to Tees Rowing Club, cash, we can provide our card machine or by bank
transfer). If you decide at the end of the first session that you don’t want to row then the money will
be returned. Please note that on the membership form you must mark that you require the Learn to
Row course for £110.
