Seren & Martha bravely battling the fruity conditions
Tees RC spend Easter Sunday at the England Coastal Rowing Championships, 2025
By Martha Anderson
Some of Tees RC travelled to Whitby on Sunday 20th April to take part and volunteer at the English Coastal Rowing Championships 2025.
Five juniors were scheduled to race throughout the day, enduring difficult conditions.
Firstly, Martha Anderson and Seren Williams participated in the CW18 x2 alongside the women and master’s categories for their first ever coastal competition. They performed well and even enjoyed the company of a pod of dolphins at the start line. They came 2nd overall in the women’s double entries, and came 2nd in the J18 category.
Next up, Sefi Ormston participated in the CWJ18 1x and endured the harsh conditions, performing well. Sefi also competed in the CJ18 Mix 2x with a friend from Whitby CRC and confidently secured 1st place.
Harry Morley competed in the COJ18 1x category, performing well against lads 3 years older. He then teamed up with Seren Williams to gain 2nd place in the CJ18 Mix 2x. Harry also set out to race with Henry Anderson in the boy’s doubles, unfortunately though, due to the worsening conditions, this race was cancelled.
A shout out should also go to Julie Morley who came first in the CW2x with her Whitby CRC partner as well as doing an excellent job in coaching and supporting all Tees RC juniors to ensure they had the best chances throughout the day of racing.
Many thanks also to the help from our fellow Tees RC volunteers as their presence assisted Whitby CRC to make the day as successful and enjoyable as it was.
Overall, this was a fun and exciting day for all involved with great racing, plenty of sun and fish and chips.

The English Coastal Championships form the first leg of the Four Nations Enduro series (Wales, Jersey & Scotland to follow), so athletes hoping to top the table need to perform well across the four events
