Job Description – Coaching Coordinator

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all Club members who wish to receive coaching have access to a suitable coach
  • Ensure compliance of participant welfare
  • Maintain a database of current coaches within Tees Rowing Club
  • Understand the individual strengths and personal aspirations of each coach
  • Facilitate training for all members wishing to qualify as a coach

Key Activities

  • Assess the coaching needs of Tees Rowing Club
  • Link crews, squads and individuals with appropriate coaches; Liaise with the Captain and Vice Captains accordingly
  • Identify gaps in the coaching team at Tees Rowing Club and canvas potential coaches to fill these gaps
  • Promote a high quality of coaching within Tees Rowing Club and support the clubs coaching team to continue their coaching education and development
  • Provide, where appropriate or requested, mentoring support for new and existing coaches within the club
  • Develop a performance pathway for coaches
  • Organise and implement a coach education programme to help members of the club improve their coaching
  • Record all qualifications received and courses attended by Tees Rowing Club membership
  • Manage the attendance of members wishing to become coaches at external courses
  • Investigate potential coaches from club membership and whether there is any funding to gain qualifications
  • Promote the Clubs Coaching Code of Conduct and review on a yearly basis in line with British Rowing recommendation
  • Create and maintain a resources library to assist the coaching team
  • Ensure any welfare issues are referred to the Welfare Officer
  • Ensure any safety concerns are reported to the Safety Adviser

Experience Required

  • Experience or knowledge of working within a coaching structure (but not essential)
  • A desire to develop the coaching team of Tees Rowing Club
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in developing and leading a team

Time Required

  • Coaching in person up to four sessions per calendar month
  • Participation in Tees RC committee meetings once per calendar month

  • Progression by British Rowing Coaching Levels
