DARC and Tees strengthen ties

Tees Rowing Club

Lovely to catch up with friends

On Thursday 26th June 2025 the Rec Rowers welcomed 14 rowers from DARCs daytime rowers.  We boated up in an Eight, 3 Quads and 2 Doubles.  With the exception of Tena all the boats rowed to the Pipe Bridge and back.  Maureen (87 years young) had requested a shorter row so Tena turned back at Teal.  What an amazing and fit lady.

The weather was kind and the forecast rain held off.  The row was followed by a buffet lunch in the club room/balcony when the sun came out.

It was good to catch up with old friends from DARC again and welcome John Corby (a former Rec Rower) and Sally and Olwyn (wives of Ernie and Eric) along to join the lunch. Sally and Olwyn usually go with us when we are invited to Durham and blessed us with quiche and cake today (they can come back anytime!).

DARC really enjoy our river for the length they can row and lack of heavy traffic such as they experience in Durham, although the Teesside Princess did appear.  The crews were allocated with the boats being a mixture of Tees and DARC rowers, another positive experience and lesson in being adaptable.

As far as I am aware the Otters and Kingfishers did not put in an appearance.

We look forward to continuing the relationship we have with DARC.
