- To assist the Secretary in the Administration of the Club as and when required
- Attend and participate in Club Committee meetings
- Ensure that Committee meeting minutes are written up in the absence of the Secretary
- Generally assist the Secretary in the administration of the Club
- Maintain the club notice board
- In conjunction with the Secretary, review and update Tees RC policies and procedures for approval
- Assist the Secretary by proof reading articles prior to wider circulation
- Be prepared to deputise for the Secretary at Committee Meetings
- Issue notice of meetings, agendas and prepare draft minutes of Committee meetings in the absence of the Secretary
- Book rooms in the boat house as and when required
- Keep abreast of British Rowing Guidelines, Policy and Procedures
- Support other Committee members in their roles
- Canvas members’ opinion and forward these to the Committee where appropriate
- Ensure any safety concerns are reported to the Safety Adviser
- Ensure any accidents witnessed or heard about are correctly reported
- Ensure the club rules and bye-laws are abided by
- Ensure Welfare issues are reported in accordance to policy
- Ideally has worked on the Tees Rowing Club committee, or that of another club, and therefore is familiar with how a committee works within a club environment
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing
- Good attention to detail
- Able to work confidentially
- Ideally knowledge of British Rowing guidelines and governance, but not essential
- 2 hours per month to attend the committee meetings
- 2 hours per month to prepare draft minutes of meetings (when requested)
- 2 hours per month to spend on other Assistant Secretary roles and responsibilities
